WA’s Goldfields could be a renewable energy world leader under Greens plan

Senator for Western Australia Scott Ludlam was in Kalgoorlie today convening a meeting of business and industry leaders to plan the Goldfields' renewable energy future.

Senator Ludlam organised the meeting with leading American solar energy company SolarReserve, the Kalgoorlie-Boulder Chamber of Commerce and Industry, the local Chamber of Minerals and Energy, and other interested parties.

Barnett must back solar plant for Kalgoorlie – Greens

WA Greens have called for the Mungari industrial estate to host the biggest solar power station in the southern hemisphere despite the opposition of the Department of State Development.

Robin Chapple, MLC for the Mining and Pastoral Region, said the solar power project proposed by Investec Bank Australia would bring great benefits to the people of Kalgoorlie and Coolgardie.

Senate supports motion to reinstate and extend solar hot water scheme

A Greens motion calling on the government to immediately reinstate and extend the scrapped solar hot water rebate passed the Senate today with support from the Opposition.

"The outcry from the community and industry shows that the government has made the wrong decision here and should act quickly to reinstate and extend support for solar hot water," Australian Greens Deputy Leader, Senator Christine Milne, said.
