The Treasurer heard you loud & clear

Dear friend,

Late yesterday, we hand-delivered more than 12,000 of your signatures to the Treasurer's office, calling on him to fund Denticare in this year's Budget.

So, we want to say thank you for joining our call to the Treasurer, whether on our website or by signing at one of our stalls across the country. You made this petition one of the largest we have ever run.

Delivering the petition

The Budget's only weeks away and we've been ramping up the campaign for Denticare.

Greens supporters have been out in force in recent weeks, letterboxing in Adelaide, doorknocking in Melbourne, and speaking to farmers at rural shows in Tasmania. We've been collecting signatures outside on stalls outside Medicare offices from Penrith in Sydney to towns in south-west WA, and right here in central Canberra.

Our television ad for Denticare is screening as we speak on Sky and regional stations across the country.

It's all building on Senator Richard Di Natale's work here in Canberra: helping to establish the National Advisory Council on Dental Health, getting Denticare on the national agenda, and of course working with Adam Bandt, Deputy Leader of the Australian Greens and MP for Melbourne, to negotiate an extra $165 million for dental health from the Government in February.

We know our campaign is working. Two of our volunteers collecting signatures at the Gungahlin Medicare office spoke to the staff there, who told them that lots of people have come in off the street and asked Medicare staff about Denticare.

The message is being heard loud and clear from the community that our teeth should be treated like the rest of the body - and that dental health should be covered by Medicare.

And thanks to you, it's been heard loud and clear by the Treasurer as well.

Yours sincerely,

Georgia, Ebony, Kajute, Andrew, Josh and the whole GreensMPs team
