PFOS at Campvale raises questions over RAAF base excavation

Labor must put out Frydenberg’s renewables bonfire: Greens

In response to Environment & Energy Minister Josh Frydenberg’s comments that he will proceed with the $1.3 billion cut to ARENA grant funding, Greens Energy spokesperson Adam Bandt MP called on Labor to abandon its support for the Liberals’ funding cuts.

“Labor must drop its election cut to ARENA and put out Josh Frydenberg’s renewable bonfire,” Mr Bandt said.

“The make up of the new Senate means we have an opportunity to protect the $1.3 billion of ARENA funding the Coalition wants to cut, but Labor needs to get on board.”

Defence Human Health Assessment report confirms dire straits for Williamtown residents

Greens NSW Senator Lee Rhiannon says the recent Human Health Assessment Report released yesterday is more bad news for the Williamtown community. 

“It confirms that existing fishing bans for Fullerton Cove will remain in place, and extends cautionary advice about consumption to home grown fruit, vegetables and meat,” Senator Rhiannon said. 

“This report really does confirm some of the worst suspicions that community members have had, about how risky this contamination is, and how they have to curb their consumption to stay safe.

Coral scientists’ letter to PM shows need to vote for the Reef on Saturday

With coral reef scientists left to beg the Prime Minister Turnbull to stop putting fossil fuels ahead of the Reef, it's never been more important to vote for the Reef.

"This election falls at a critical time for the survival of our Great Barrier Reef," Qld Senator Larissa Waters, Australian Greens Deputy Leader, said.

"The old parties are ignoring Reef scientists and instead are putting their fossil fuel donors ahead of the Reef and the 69 000 people who rely on the its health for their job.

Renew Australia: The Greens’ jobs-rich plan for the Central West

Greens NSW Senator Lee Rhiannon and Greens candidate for Calare Delanie Sky will hold a press conference in Lithgow tomorrow Wednesday 22 June. They will release the Greens' Renew Australia plan for the Central West, an initiative which outlines phasing out coal and a transition to the renewable energy industry.

Greens call on Labor to commit to an independent environmental watchdog

The Australian Greens call on Labor to commit to establishing an independent environmental watchdog, rather than just saying they will explore options for one, and to commit to reversing funding cuts to environmental regulators.

Qld Senator Larissa Waters, Australian Greens spokesperson for the environment, said:
