Tasmania cannot sell a lie

When I developed the Tasmanian Business and Industry Strategy in the 1990's to transform our failing economy from a dig it up and cut it down "quarry" to one based on our world renowned natural advantages, I emphasised that "Clean and Green" would only be successful, if it was authentic.

You cannot sell a lie and get away with it indefinitely. Protection of the brand is all important in business and it is all important to Tasmania.

Senators Brown and Milne urge Ta Ann to refuse to take wood from Tasmania's HCV forests - press conference - 22-12-11

 

Australian Greens Leader Bob Brown and Deputy Leader Christine Milne spoke to reporters in Hobart today amid the growing international furore over Malaysian logging company Ta Ann's destruction of Tasmania's native forests.

 

Senators Brown and Milne also answered questions about the onshore processing of asylum seekers, calling for the Australian government to adhere to international legal obligations.

Senator Bob Brown press conference - November 9, 2011

Australian Greens Leader Bob Brown spoke to reporters in Canberra today to wish the soldiers wounded in Afghanistan a speedy recovery and to call for all Australian troops to be brought home safely.

Senator Brown also answered questions about the passage yesterday of the climate bills, the proposed mining tax, and the activities of Malaysian logging company Ta Ann.
