Greens plan to cut taxes for small business

The Australian Green have released a plan to ease the pressure on small business by reducing the company tax rate for small business by two per cent from 1 July 2014.

"The Australian Greens understand the pressure that small businesses are feeling which is why we want to give them a fairer go by lowering company tax from 30 per cent to 28 per cent," Greens Leader Senator Christine Milne said.

"Our investment in small business has been costed by the independent Parliamentary Budget Office at $1.75 billion over the forward estimates on the budget figures.

Rudd show duds small businesses unpaid for ASIO building

Australian Greens Small Business spokesperson, Senator Peter Whish-Wilson, said that Prime Minister Rudd should be focused on the serious matter of small businesses yet to be paid for their work on the ASIO building rather than putting on a pre-election show.

"Today Prime Minister Rudd put on a show for the cameras at the new ASIO building while the $704 million federal government building project has resulted in an estimated 100 small businesses not being paid for their hard work," said Senator Peter Whish-Wilson.

Federal Small Business Commissioner backs Greens call for Tasmanian counterpart

Today, Mark Brennan, the Australian Small Business Commissioner, backed the Australian Greens call for a Tasmanian Small Business Commissioner to support the needs of small business in the State.  The Australian Greens spokesperson for small business, Senator Peter Whish-Wilson, welcomed Mr. Brennan's statement, made at the Australian Government's Small Business Forum in Launceston this afternoon, that a Tasmanian Small Business Commissioner was a terrific concept and all states without such a commissioner should consider one.

The Australian Greens will today seek to formalise the role of the Federal Small Business Commissioner in legislation with a private member’s bill to be introduced to the Senate.

Greens small business spokesperson, Senator Peter Whish-Wilson stated the Party was committed to seeing the role given some ‘real teeth’ in order for it to operate effectively.

New Federal Small Business Commissioner Needs Teeth

 

The Australian Greens spokesperson for small business Senator Peter Whish-Wilson has welcomed the Federal Government’s announcement that they plan to create a Small Business Commissioner.

“There has been speculation around this for a while, we Greens are strong supporters of small business, ” Senator Whish-Wilson stated.

“It appears the Government is yet to precisely define what the scope of the Commissioner’s role will be, or where it fits into the broader picture, but we look forward to learning more.
