Wind Farm Points the Way to Jobs for the Future

 

The Australian Greens have cautiously welcomed Hydro Tasmania’s announcement it plans to build a 200 turbine wind farm on King Island off the North West Coast of Tasmania.

Energy White Paper gets an F from WA

The new Federal Government energy white paper is a missed opportunity and locks in obsolete and polluting energy sources, the Greens warned today.

Member for the Mining And Pastoral Region Robin Chapple MLC said the paper missed a great opportunity to promote Western Australia as a solar energy powerhouse.

Sun rises on Climate Change Authority

The independent expert Climate Change Authority has released its first issues paper, calling for submissions to its review of the Renewable Energy Target.

"This important first paper from the Climate Authority points to the impressive potential of renewable energy such as wind, solar, tidal and geothermal to power our country without polluting the atmosphere and driving global warming," Australian Greens Leader, Senator Christine Milne, said.

Leader of the Australian Greens, Senator Christine Milne, held a press conference in Hobart today calling for an increase in the Renewable Energy Target (RET), Tony Abbott's refusal to join the multi-party reference group on asylum seeker policy, Labor's attack on progressive voters and Afghanistan.

Hockey prepares ground to support $10b Clean Energy Fund

Tony Abbott's claim that he will repeal all aspects of the climate change package is looking even more suspect today after Joe Hockey prepared the ground for keeping the Clean Energy Finance Corporation.

Mr Hockey told the National Press Club that: ‘if elected, one of my earliest administrative tasks to improve public finances will be to meet with senior public servants to identify the real commercial value of the NBN and the Clean Energy Finance Corporation and their treatment in the Budget.'
