Greens Transport and Infrastructure spokesperson Senator Janet Rice has condemned the Morrison government for failing to invest in a green recovery that would create new jobs and build the foundations of a fair, clean economy. 

Instead, the Morrison government is doubling down on transport infrastructure that locks in pollution, props up fossil fuel corporations and will make the climate crisis even worse. 

Senator Rice said: 

“Budgets are about choices, and the Morrison government is making the wrong ones.

Greens Treasury spokesperson, Senator Peter Whish-Wilson, commented today on the release of the OECD’s Interim Economic Outlook.

Senator Whish-Wilson said, “The OECD has joined the chorus of voices urging governments to invest more in infrastructure.

Greens Treasury spokesperson, Senator Peter Whish-Wilson, today called on federal Liberal and Labor to take a lesson from their state counterparts and commit to significant new investment in productivity enhancing infrastructure.

Senator Whish-Wilson said, “Growth figures released yesterday show that Victoria was the best economically performing state in the nation and that this performance was underpinned by the 'interventionist' stance of the state government to borrow to invest in infrastructure.

Greens spokesperson for Finance, Senator Peter Whish-Wilson, today called on Tasmanian Liberal Senators to provide federal assistance for TasWater’s infrastructure upgrade program.

Senator Whish-Wilson said, “At a time when critical local infrastructure upgrades are needed, like those identified by TasWater, the federal government is proposing to cut payments to the states. The budget shows payments to the states are set to fall from $9 billion to $4 billion over the next four years.

Greens spokesperson for finance, Senator Peter Whish-Wilson, responded to Scott Morrison’s exhalations about superannuation funds’ level of investment in Australia.

Senator Whish-Wilson said, “Scott Morrison should have a look in the mirror if he wants to see what’s frustrating super funds’ efforts to invest in Australia.
