With reference to the instances where industrial pollution at the Burrup Peninsula (the Peninsula) shows up as rain and cloud cover on Bureau of Meteorology (BOM) radars:

(1) Will the Department urgently undertake research on the impact of industrial pollution on the Peninsula and how often the BOM radar is recording such pollution as either rain or cloud cover on clear days.

With reference to National Heritage assessments:

(1) How many assessments have been completed by the Australian Heritage Council where no decision has yet been made by the Minister, broken down by state and territory?

(2) If any assessments have been completed but decisions are pending:

(a) when were such assessments completed;

(b) what is the reason for the delay;

(1) Is the Minister aware that it has been more than two years since the completion of the Emergency Assessment of the outstanding values of the Dampier Archipelago.

(1) Why was Munday Swamp removed from the Register of the National Estate, and when did this occur? 

(2) Is the Minister aware of the outstanding indigenous and environmental heritage value of Munday Swamp and the associated bushland at Perth Airport?

Industrial Development on the Burrup

Senator Ludlam asked the minister representing the Minister for the Environment, in writing, on 12 November 2013:

With reference to the Australian Government's approval for construction of the Burrup Nitrates technical ammonium nitrate production facility (EPBC 2008/4546, 14 September 2011) and industrial development on the Burrup:

(1) Has construction commenced; if so;

(a) have conditions in Section 8a and 8b, regarding the provision of fencing and signage been met; if so, can a copy be provided of the documentation;
