The Greens (WA) are committed to ensuring everyone is able to access health supports when they need it.  

The Greens (WA) are calling on the WA State Government to commit to providing people with more support before opening up Western Australia to interstate and international visitors.

The 11 point plan, announced by Australian Greens Health Spokesperson Senator Jordon Steele-John and Greens (WA) Health Spokesperson Brad Pettitt MLC, will ensure everyone is able to access prevention measures, and the financial and health supports they need to recover from COVID-19.

The Greens will move to enshrine warrant requirement in MyHealth: Di Natale

The Greens will pursue a Private Senators Bill when Parliament returns next month to ensure that any access to my health record data by law enforcement would require a warrant, Leader of the Australian Greens Dr Richard Di Natale said.

“If you want to access someone’s medical records, you should have to have a warrant, simple as that," Di Natale said.

"There is no justification for the lesser standard, and Minister Hunt has been all over the place on what data can be released, and to whom.

Australian Greens respond to claims one-third of parents unsure about vaccination.

Greens propose work-around to provide HIV prevention drug

The Greens are calling on the Federal Government to support personal importation of an HIV 'wonder drug' that has just been denied listing on the Pharmaceutical Benefits Scheme, to protect those who are most at risk.

"We simply cannot leave Australians at unnecessary risk, when this drug gives us the chance to end HIV transmission in Australia," said Greens Leader Dr Richard Di Natale, a former public health specialist who has worked on HIV prevention in India.

New sugar tax is a sweetener for your health

Leader of the Australian Greens Dr Richard Di Natale has announced a new tax on sugary sweetened beverages to help tackle Australia's obesity epidemic.

"We have a major health crisis on our hands with over a quarter of Australian adults and children overweight or obese," said Senator Di Natale who was a general practitioner and public health specialist before he entered politics.

30% of the added sugar kids consume comes from sweetened drinks, contributing to weight gain and a risk of diabetes, in particular for kids.

Greens launch palliative care package to ensure support when it matters most

“Conversations about dying can be difficult, but it’s something we will all have to face. Good palliative care can ensure we receive the care we want. The Greens will work to improve the palliative care system, so that individuals, carers and their families have the right support.

“To improve the quality of life for those in palliative care, the Greens package proposes $76 million over four years, this includes $10m for a national awareness campaign, as well as $1m for research projects that will improve our understanding of palliative care challenges.

Health cuts a GST ruse: Turnbull must reinstate funding

The Australian Greens have welcomed a report in The Lancet medical journal, which highlights the huge opportunity to improve public health through action on global warming.

"Cutting pollution won't just maintain the status quo - it will make our entire population more healthy, which means more productive and more prosperous," said Greens Leader Dr Richard Di Natale.
