Ditching 'Andrew Bolt Protection Bill' a victory in fight against racism and hate speech

Australians reject scrapping of race-hate law: Greens

The Greens spokesperson for Multiculturalism, Senator Richard Di Natale, today has again called on the Abbott government to drop its ill-conceived plans to wind back laws that prohibit racial abuse in light of a Nielsen poll that shows the reform has been overwhelmingly rejected by the electorate.

“Today’s poll shows that the Government’s plan to scrap laws that protect people from offensive and hurtful racial abuse is deeply unpopular. Nine in 10 Australians want to keep the current protections.
