SA's water future on the line as Abbott attempts carbon repeal

As the Abbott Government makes its third attempt to repeal the carbon price, a new report has found South Australia faces a water crisis due to human-induced climate change.

Australian Greens Senator for South Australia Penny Wright says Prime Minister Abbott's stubborn ignorance on climate science was a betrayal of South Australians.

"While Tony Abbott goes for short-term political gain by scrapping a price on pollution, South Australia will pay dearly," Senator Wright said.

Business should lead and help end global warming policy farce - Greens

The Australian Greens say Australian business have an opportunity to help end the global warming policy farce and avoid Mr Palmer's yellow tape by supporting emissions trading.

"The Abbott government is incompetent, incapable of negotiating with the Senate, and so bloody-minded that they've agreed to push through an amended law without any consultation or any understanding of what those amendments will do," Greens Leader Christine Milne said.

Australian Greens Leader Christine Milne says the Australian people have seen today how the Abbott government will crash in its attempts to manipulate the Senate on carbon pricing and its destructive budget.

"The only thing that is clear today is that the Prime Minister has failed. This is government by incompetence. Deals in back rooms designed to stitch up the Senate have come unstuck. Tony Abbott is a crash or crash through Prime Minister, and today he crashed," said Senator Milne.

Greens Leader on ARENA deal

"I welcome the decision by Mr Muir and Mr Palmer to join the Greens and Labor in opposing the abolition of ARENA," Greens Leader Christine Milne said.

"However, it is extremely disappointing that Mr Palmer and Mr Muir will join Tony Abbott in voting to gut ARENA of $717 million over the next three years. I have serious concerns that ARENA won't be able to fund new innovation projects for renewable energy that we can export to the world.
