MORRISON FAILING TO PROTECT AUSTRALIA & MUST INCREASE 2030 CLIMATE TARGETS

Greens Leader, Adam Bandt, has described Prime Minister Scott Morrison as an utter embarrassment and a threat to Australia’s safety after Australia’s weak climate action stood in contrast to a host of nations, including our biggest trading partners, lifting their 2030 targets at President Biden’s Climate Summit.

“We are heading towards a climate cliff and as Joe Biden desperately tries to stop us going over the edge, Scott Morrison refuses to lift 2030 targets and Labor backs him in,” said Mr Bandt.

Science on climate end-game puts Liberals and Labor targets to shame

The release of a new report shows only the Greens have a climate policy in line with the science.

With the events of the weekend and the UN Climate Ambition Summit, 31 of the 37 members of the OECD have now committed to raising their 2030 climate ambition. Of the six remaining, only Australia has ruled out raising its 2030 target.

PM must not use Pacific bullying to cover for his climate isolation and misleading of Parliament

Scott Morrison has confirmed Australia’s diplomatic isolation on climate with his answers in Question Time today.

It now appears absolutely clear that his answers to Greens Leader, Adam Bandt, last week, on Australia’s participation in the crucial UN’s Climate Ambition Summit, were a misleading of Parliament and that Australia will not be joining the up to 100 countries who will announce stronger action at the Summit this weekend.

Senator Lidia Thorpe: First Speech to the Federal Senate

I acknowledge the Ngunnawal and Ngambri peoples who are the traditional custodians of the gathering place, on which this Parliament was built.

I am a proud Djabwurrung Gunnai Gunditjmara woman and I live on Wurundjeri Country. I stand before you today on the shoulders of my ancestors, who fought and died for our country.

Their resistance, knowledge and strength over thousands of years has guided me to this moment and I carry their spirit with me in this chamber.

It’s an honour to be the first Aboriginal person elected to the Senate to represent Victoria.
