Tampon tax must go – old parties need to get with the times and get rid of sexist tax

The Australian Greens are disappointed that both the old parties are giving up on ending the tampon tax.

Senator Larissa Waters, Australian Greens Deputy Leader and spokesperson for women, said:

"While the old parties make excuses, Australian women continue to fork out $50 million a year in a tax on their bodies.

"We Greens will not give up on ending the tampon tax - we'll continue to work in the next Parliament to see it scrapped.

Greens commit $5 billion in long-term, secure funding for domestic violence services

The Australian Greens have today announced a $5 billion plan over ten years to provide long-term, secure funding for domestic violence services, as part of a comprehensive domestic violence services package.

Legal Aid urgently needs funding boost given high demand for domestic violence family law services

With new analysis showing 79 per cent of Legal-Aid-assisted family law cases include domestic violence, the Greens today renewed their call for the Coalition Government to boost funding for Legal Aid.

"The demand for domestic violence legal help is so tragically high that it is a factor in the bulk of family law cases assisted by Legal Aid," Senator Larissa Waters, Australian Greens spokesperson for women, said.
