The elitist Life Gold Pass is set to survive into 2017 as Prime Minister Malcolm Turnbull, like former PM Tony Abbott, has squibbed previous promises to ditch the discredited scheme, Greens democracy spokesperson Senator Lee Rhiannon said. 
“Prime Minister Turnbull’s excuse that his government is too ‘busy’ is rubbish. We all know three weeks ago the Senate ran out of legislation 
to debate,” Senator Rhiannon said.
“Just last month Special Minister of State Scott Ryan said the bill would be introduced before Christmas.

Buying political access the link to One Nation developer donations

Greens spokesperson for democracy Senator Lee Rhiannon says Vicland property donations to One Nation, as well as Liberal, Labor and Family First parties, are a blatant example of money being used to buy political influence.
New research completed by the Greens Democracy for Sale project compared two party preferred polling figures with total donations declared in an election period. In elections where a particular party was expected to win government, donations favoured those parties.

The Greens say that the Bob Day saga gives added weight to the already strong case for a federal ICAC. Greens democracy spokesperson Senator Lee Rhiannon said the Greens are renewing their push for a federal anti-corruption body.
"Since June the Greens have called for Day to answer questions about irregularities in donations and loans made from him and his companies to Family First," Senator Rhiannon said.

Greens spokesperson for democracy Senator Lee Rhiannon has warned that former trade minister Andrew Robb’s new job with Landbridge Group, who were awarded a 99 year lease over the Port of Darwin last year, may lead to a breach of the Ministerial Standards.

“The Bob Day saga of political donations and a collapsed building empire is another reminder of the need for far reaching electoral funding reform,” Senator Rhiannon said. 
“While Bob Day’s building empire Home Australia was leaving many, many people in financial stress, Bob Day was pumping hundreds of thousands of dollars into his own party’s coffers.
