The Australian Greens will today force the release of the preliminary report of the Abbott Government's review into the national curriculum within seven days.
Australian Greens spokesperson for schools Senator Penny Wright will this afternoon move a production of documents motion, to be supported by Labor, which will require the Minister to release the preliminary report by Kevin Donnelly and Ken Wiltshire.
"This review has been shrouded in secrecy. The public deserve to know what's being planned for our schools," Senator Wright said.
"Minister Pyne has had this preliminary report since March 31, but still hasn't made it public. What has he got to hide?
"The Australian Greens and many teacher and school groups are concerned this review is just one more way for the Abbott Government to push its conservative political agenda into classrooms.
"The current Australian Curriculum was the result of years of collaboration between educators and government, and millions of dollars have been spent on its development and roll out.
"Christopher Pyne wants to undo all that and impose his own agenda before the year is out.
"The Australian Greens believe it's time Minister Pyne came clean with the public about his plans for our schools."
