Greens Senator Lee Rhiannon said: "The Old Boot Factory is the last free-standing heritage building in Bondi Junction.

"It beggars belief that the Liberal-controlled Waverley Council is pushing ahead with demolishing this important link the working factories of the late 1800s and early 1900s.

"The Council's process has been rushed. Demolishing this piece of history is not backed up by the National Trust and not supported by the local community.

"Waverley Council will have a fight on its hands if it continues down the path of demolition."
