The Greens NSW have stepped up their opposition to Western Sydney Airport with its State Council passing a unanimous motion on the issue and pledging support for No WSA events in Western Sydney.

Senate supports motion condemning governance of federal funds for WestConnex

The Greens welcome federal Labor’s support of their motion condemning the way billions of dollars of federal funds have been put into WestConnex without following proper processes or safeguards, but say Labor at NSW and federal levels now need to come out against the project. 

Yesterday the Australian National Audit Office released a highly critical report into the Commonwealth funding of the WestConnex project.

In parliament yesterday we heard the Prime Minister accuse the Leader of the Opposition of being a parasite. But, when it comes to public transport policy in Australia, Prime Minister Turnbull is the great leech of our trains, trams and buses. He is more than happy to try and boost his popularity by taking selfies of himself on the train or—his second favourite—bus, but when it comes to investing in public transport he is just absent. He sucking the life out of public transport across our cities and propping up the big road lobby instead.

Value capture proposal not the silver bullet for high speed rail

The Greens have warned that a Parliamentary Committee’s support for value capture for high speed rail along Australia’s east coast is fraught with danger.

“High speed rail is going to be one of the biggest infrastructure projects in our history. We have to get it right, and not have the project twisted just because it suits the interests of a select few money-hungry developers,” said the Australian Greens transport and infrastructure spokesperson Senator Janet Rice.

The Greens say Badgery’s Creek airport is a dud deal for Western Sydney. 
 
The federal government on Monday signed off on what it says is the final document that clears the way for construction to begin on Sydney's second airport at Badgerys Creek.

The Turnbull government’s response to Infrastructure Australia’s Australian Infrastructure Plan is shaping up to be just another example of the PM talking big but delivering the same-old small-thinking Abbott policies, say the Greens.
