Stand up for your Murray Rights

A healthy Murray Darling system

The Murray River is at the heart of South Australia and our state is the leader in responsible water usage.

South Australians have the right to expect the Basin Plan to deliver true reform so that Adelaide and other towns have ongoing and adequate fresh drinking water, so South Australia's agriculture, recreational and tourism businesses can flourish, and so the Basin's precious environments can survive in the dry times.

The Greens are standing up for your Murray rights. We are acting to deliver a Murray Darling Basin plan that ensures:

  • The Murray Mouth is open to the ocean, and closes only in the rarest of circumstances
  • That salt does not build up in the system and water quality improves
  • Native wildlife, plants and key environmental places like the Lower Lakes and the Coorong are protected and restored.

Your voice is important - and we want to make sure Parliament listens.

Water Minster Tony Burke has released a Basin Plan that won’t fix anything – and it will condemn the Basin, especially South Australia, to failure.

The Greens are calling on Water Minister Burke to send the Plan back and come back to Parliament with a better version that won’t sell the river short.

If you have a message for Minister Burke about what the Plan must achieve, now is the time to speak out.
