Greens send Japan $2 million bill for Ady Gil

Australian Greens Leader Bob Brown has sent a bill for $2 million to the Japanese Ambassador after a Japanese ship sank the Sea Shepherd's fleet-pursuit vessel the Ady Gil.

"The bill should be coming from the Australian and New Zealand governments. However, the Rudd government has left it to the Japanese Government to make all the demands so far. Here is a demand in return," Senator Brown said.

Senator Brown also called on the Rudd government to take court action to shut down Japan's whale-killing expedition. This follows opinion by ANU international law expert Professor Don Rothwell that an injunction could effect a whaling shut-down.
