The announcement of a billion-dollar solar farm and energy storage facility in South Australia shows that the state is leading the way into a clean, green, renewable energy future.
“This world leading facility is the next step in South Australia’s march toward a clean, green and stable energy future,” South Australian Greens’ Senator Sarah Hanson-Young said.
“Coal is dead and our state has the vision and foresight to lead our nation’s technological revolution.
“This project has been 100 per cent equity financed. That just goes to show that the economics of clean, green and stable renewable energy makes sense.
“We desperately need jobs in regional South Australia and that is exactly what projects like this will bring to our state, now and long into the future.
“While projects like this are already getting off the ground, we also need to look at ways we can fix the market rules to give batteries and energy storage a level playing field.
“This is a great announcement for our state, but it’s also just the beginning. I urge both the State and Federal Governments to commit to supporting the concentrated solar thermal power plant in Port Augusta as the next step in our energy transition.”
